    Our Vision and Values

At Guardian Angels Catholic Primary School, our mission is rooted in Gospel values and our commitment to ensuring that every child is known, loved and supported to flourish. We strive to create a nurturing, inclusive environment where all children can develop spiritually, academically, socially and emotionally to become the very best version of themselves.

Our Resource Base is an integral part of the Guardian Angels family. We believe that all children, regardless of need, should feel valued, respected and included within our school community. Our approach is underpinned by the principles of dignity, compassion, respect and excellence, ensuring that every child has opportunities to succeed and participate fully in school life.

    Our Approach to Inclusion

Inclusion is central to everything we do at Guardian Angels. We continually reflect on our provision and ask ourselves how we can further remove barriers to learning and participation for all pupils.

The voices of children, parents, staff and external professionals play a vital role in shaping and evaluating our provision. We regularly review our practice through:

    • Pupil, parent and staff feedback
    • Academic progress and assessment information
    • Behaviour and wellbeing monitoring
    • Learning walks and classroom observations
    • Parent consultations and informal discussions
    • Multi-agency reviews and professional reports

Our aim is to ensure that inclusion is not simply an aspiration but a lived experience for every child.

Specialist Provision with Inclusion at its Heart

The Guardian Angels Resource Base provides specialist support for pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition and Speech and Language.

Our approach is centred on "inclusion by design", where the needs of pupils with the highest levels of need are considered from the outset when planning learning, environments and school experiences. We believe that effective inclusion benefits all pupils and strengthens our whole school community.

The Resource Base was established to provide high-quality specialist provision while enabling pupils to access meaningful opportunities alongside their mainstream peers. Staff work closely with class teachers to ensure that children are supported to participate successfully in lessons, playtimes, school events and wider aspects of school life.

    Our Environment

The Resource Base is located within Guardian Angels Catholic Primary School and enables pupils to access both specialist and mainstream learning environments throughout the day (dependent on children’s individual needs). Careful consideration is given to creating calm, structured and supportive spaces where pupils feel safe, confident and ready to learn.

Visual supports, predictable routines and personalised strategies help pupils navigate the school day successfully while maintaining strong links with their mainstream classes and the wider school community.

    Our Pupils

All pupils attending the Resource Base have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and autism is their primary identified need. Many pupils may also have additional needs, including speech, language and communication difficulties, sensory needs, or social, emotional and mental health needs.

To ensure the best outcomes for pupils, we work closely with a range of professionals including:

    • Speech and Language Therapists
    • Educational Psychologists
    • Occupational Therapists
    • Health professionals
    • Local Authority SEND services

This collaborative approach ensures that support is tailored to the individual needs of each child.

    Working Together for Success

A key aim of our Resource Base team is to enable pupils to develop increasing independence, confidence and participation within the wider school community. The amount of time pupils spend in mainstream classes is carefully planned according to their individual needs, strengths and targets, with inclusion opportunities continually reviewed and developed.

The Resource Base shares the same vision, values and aspirations as the wider school. It is not a separate provision, but an important and valued part of the Guardian Angels family, where every child is supported to belong, achieve and thrive.
